3D Logo Intro for Dreamstuff

This is made for Dan Oles, head of Dreamstuff. He's currently working on a motion comic series called Anti-Hero.

My client wanted an intro animation with something surreal and vaguely linked to Midsummer Night's dream, with special focus on the donkey imagery. We were also thinking of using luna moths in the design, since they are dreamy creatures.

Suddenly, wham, the two ideas merged together in my head, a moth with its wings closed, revealing the strange interior of a screaming donkey. And that is how the donkerfly was born.

I started playing with color and giving him more antler-like structures.

I gave him a punk-rock mane and more face detail.

The previous version looked a little too demonic, so I knocked some things down a level.

Here I thought I found just the right balance of dreamlike and creepy.
